One of the most requested features we receive is now available to our managed server clients. Managing backups with our Managed Virtual and Dedicated Server has just gotten a lot easier! By purchasing our Managed Backup Service you now will have full control of managing backups directly within cPanel, allowing you to restore files, folders, databases, emails all with the click of a few buttons.
The backups will be stored in a separate offsite location, separating your backups from your server and creating another layer of defense if the unthinkable happens.
The other fantastic feature with this backup service is that it does backups incrementally, which means it will only back up new or changed files greatly reducing the need to purchase additional disk space, and allowing you to keep many more restore points for you to roll back to.
That means that if you are backing up 20 GB of the same files daily, if 19 GB of these files hasn’t changed and only 1 GB of files are new, the backup on the second day will only be storing 21 GB of files, instead of 40 GB. Managing backups in this manner also greatly improves server performance as the Managed Backup Service will only be looking to save new or changed files each day, not all files.
While having a backup space to restore from is a key component to a backup strategy, it is always recommended that when doing changes to any live site that you make a backup of it and store it on your computer. This way if something goes awry, you’ve got a quick and easy file to roll back to.
