It has been a few months since we last reported on a phishing email campaign and was covered off in our blog back then. We are seeing an increase in requests again to validate this email and due to the language and content and the call to action in it, appears to be tricking people to responding to it.
As most of us are more clear now what a phishing email is, they are becoming more brazen to get you to think these are legitimate emails.
It’s important to note that cPanel will not reach out to you, our clients on our behalf, to ask you to complete such a step. If such an action is required by you to be done, these messages will be sent directly by FullHost.
Whenever you are receiving an odd or strange email, remember that your inbox is a treasure trove of information, some of which can be quite sensitive depending on the field you are in. While technology plays a big role in keeping your information secure, you, our clients and your users are equally an important part of the equation.
If you think you have provided your password and credentials, your password must be changed immediately.
If you have further questions or need assistance on this matter, please let us know.
