Today we’re launching FullHost Object Storage – a scalable, S3-compatible object storage service hosted entirely in Canada, on infrastructure we own and operate. It’s the same storage model that powers modern applications, backups, and data lakes everywhere, with one difference that matters more every year: your data never leaves the country.
Why we built it
For over a decade, FullHost has been built around a single conviction – that Canadian organizations deserve world-class cloud infrastructure that answers to Canadian law and stays on Canadian soil. We’ve delivered that with managed hosting, VPS, and our container platform. Object storage was the natural next piece.
The timing isn’t accidental. Conversations about where data lives, who can compel access to it, and what “sovereign cloud” actually means have moved from the legal department to the boardroom. For organizations in government, healthcare, finance, and any regulated sector, storing customer data on infrastructure subject to foreign jurisdiction is no longer a comfortable default. We built FullHost Object Storage so that choosing Canadian doesn’t mean compromising on capability.
What you get
FullHost Object Storage is S3-compatible, which means it speaks the API your tools already know. If your application, backup software, or workflow talks to Amazon S3 today, it can talk to us tomorrow – usually by changing nothing more than an endpoint and a set of credentials.
- Canadian-hosted, end to end. Your buckets live in our Canadian data centre. Your data is subject to Canadian law, full stop.
- S3-compatible API. Path-style addressing with support for both SigV2 and SigV4 signatures. Works with the ecosystem of S3 tooling you already use – including clients like Cyberduck, S3-aware backup tools, and standard SDKs.
- Engineered for durability and scale. A redundant, enterprise-grade storage platform built and operated by our team.
- Scales with you. Start small, grow to terabytes and beyond without re-architecting. You pay for what you store and move.
- A single endpoint to point at:
s3-ca.fullhost.net
What you can do with it
Object storage is the quiet workhorse behind a huge range of modern workloads. A few of the things our customers are already reaching for it to do:
- Backups and archives: off-site, durable, and well outside the reach of a ransomware blast radius on your primary systems.
- Application storage: user uploads, media, documents, and assets for web and mobile apps.
- Static content: images, downloads, and large files served at scale.
- Data lakes and analytics: a cost-effective home for the volumes of data your pipelines generate.
- Compliance-driven storage: anywhere keeping data in Canada is a requirement rather than a preference.
Getting started
If you already use S3-compatible tooling, getting started is genuinely a matter of minutes:
- Sign up to create your storage account and generate access keys.
- Point your client or application at
s3-ca-east.fullhost.net. - Create a bucket and start uploading.
For a quick first test, a client like Cyberduck lets you connect with your access key and secret, create a bucket, and move files in a few clicks – no code required.
Canadian by design, not by checkbox
Plenty of providers will sell you a “Canadian region.” Fewer can tell you that the company behind it is Canadian, the team is here, and there’s no parent entity in another jurisdiction that could be compelled to hand over your data. That distinction is the whole point of FullHost, and it’s baked into every product we ship – object storage included.
Available now
FullHost Object Storage is live and ready for production workloads today. If you’re running backups you’d like to bring home, building an application that needs scalable storage, or simply tired of explaining to your auditors where your data physically sits – we’d love to help.
Get in touch with our team to set up your storage account, or reach out with questions about migrating an existing S3 workload. We’re happy to walk through it.
FullHost is a Canadian-owned cloud hosting and infrastructure company, operating since 2009 with a focus on data sovereignty and the needs of government and regulated-sector organizations.
